 Eligibility:
  • Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarships are open to all Indian passport holders who are resident in India at the time of application. Candidates are normally expected to hold a good first from previous degrees from a recognised university in India.
  • Indian passport holders who hold a good undergraduate degree from a recognised university abroad must have resided continuously, been employed, or have been studying in India for at least two years after their under graduation.
  • Candidates having a postgraduate qualification (e.g. Master’s or PhD) from an institution abroad are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who are already studying or have started their postgraduate education at an institution abroad are not eligible to apply.
  • It is essential to have prior admission to the institution and course chosen at the time of the application. The Foundation will not consider candidates without evidence of admission.
  • Candidates who have an English language certification as a conditional part of their offer letter need to attain that certification before applying for the scholarship.
    Candidates who have received a deferred offer of admission must have a valid offer for the academic year 2024-25 to be eligible for the 2024 scholarships.
    Those born on or after 1stJanuary 1994 are eligible to apply for the 2024 scholarships.
  • For Social Sciences, Humanities, Law, Fine Arts, Architecture and related subjects, candidates must have a minimum academic grade of 65%, CGPA 6.8, or GPA 2.6 from a recognized university/institution.
    For Mathematics, Sciences, Environment and related subjects, candidates must have a minimum academic grade of 70%, CGPA 7.2, or GPA 2.8 from a recognized university/institution.
 
Amount: The maximum funding given by the Foundation is USD 100,000. If the total funding required to complete the proposed course of study exceeds this amount, at the time of application candidates must show evidence that they can cover the additional costs on their own.
 
 Application Process: Application for the scholarship must be made online.
  • A candidate must have a valid passport to apply.
    Only one submission per candidate will be accepted.
    The online portal will not accept applications that do not meet the academic and financial eligibility criteria as given above.
  • Two letters of reference are mandatory and one must be from an academic referee; candidates must provide official email addresses for both referees. For applications made on 22 March 2024, the referee link will be valid for seven days post submission till 29th March 2024.

Amount: For the 2024-25 academic year there are 26 postgraduate scholarships available from UK universities, across a variety of subjects for students from India. Each scholarship is worth a minimum of £10,000 towards tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate course.

Commonwealth Scholarship Commission

Eligibility: To be considered for these scholarships, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.
  • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
  • Be available to start academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September 2024.
  • By September 2024, hold a first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1) honours standard, or a lower second-class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree)*. The CSC would not normally fund a second Master’s degree. If applying for a second
  • Master’s degree, applicants must provide justification as to why they wish to undertake this study.
  • Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship. Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format.
  • The CSC recognises that disabled people have often faced and overcome challenges or barriers in their education journey which have prevented them achieving the academic requirement for a Commonwealth Scholarship. Disabled applicants who can demonstrate their potential to contribute to international development but who do not hold a 2:1 Undergraduate degree may be considered for a contextualised nomination through the Commonwealth Disabled People’s Forum nominator. Amount:
  • Approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award (the CSC will not reimburse the cost of fares for dependants, nor the cost of journeys made before your award is confirmed)
    Approved tuition fees: full fees are covered by agreement between the CSC and the UK university, and scholars are not liable to pay for any part of the tuition fee
  • Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of £1,236 per month, or £1,516 per month for those at universities in the London metropolitan area (rates quoted at current levels)
  • Warm clothing allowance, where applicable
    Thesis grant towards the cost of preparing a thesis or dissertation, where applicable
  • Study travel grant towards the cost of study-related travel within the UK or overseas
  • If you have children and are widowed, divorced, or a single parent, child allowance of £529 per month for the first child, and £131 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if you are accompanied by your children and they are living with you at the same address in the UK (rates quoted at current levels)
  • If you share that you have a disability, a full assessment of your needs and eligibility for additional financial support will be offered by the CSC

 

Application Process:

  • Applications for Commonwealth Master’s scholarships for the 2024/25 academic year are now closed.
  • Applications to the CSC must be made using the CSC’s online application system.
  • The CSC is unable to accept any applications or documentation not submitted via the online application system.
  • Applicants are advised to complete and submit applications as early as possible, as the online application system will be very busy in the days leading up to the application deadline.
  • As well as applying to the CSC, applicants must apply to a nominating agency.
  • There are two types of nominating agency for Master’s scholarships:
  • National nominating agencies – this is the main route of application.
  • Selected non-governmental organisations and charitable bodies.
  • Nominating agencies put forward candidates to the CSC for consideration. The CSC does not accept direct applications for these scholarships.
  • Each nominating agency oversees its own selection process and may have additional eligibility criteria. Applicants must check with the nominating agency for their specific advice and rules for applying, and their own eligibility criteria.
  • Nominating agencies may set their own closing dates for applications.
  • Agencies will nominate applicants to the CSC by December 2023.
  • Applicants can expect to hear the outcome by July 2024. We will contact all applicants by email and they should ensure all folders of their email accounts are monitored, including junk mail and spam folders. A scholarship offer may be withdrawn if an applicant is emailed but does not respond within a specified time.

Felix Scholarship (SOAS University of London)

  • Felix Master’s Alumni who have obtained a distinction at Master’s may apply for a PhD Felix scholarship.
  • Candidates must have at least a first class Bachelor’s degree from an Indian University or comparable institution. We may give priority to applicants with a higher first class Bachelor’s degree.
  • Exceptionally, those with an upper second-class degree at the Bachelor’s level may be considered for PhD if they hold a first class degree at the Master’s level.
  • Those who already hold degrees from universities outside India are not eligible to apply.
  • Those who already hold a Master’s degree cannot apply for a Master’s degree scholarship.

  • Those who have already taken up a scholarship to pursue PhD studies at an Indian University are not eligible for a Felix scholarship.

Chevening Scholarship

Eligibility:

To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship you must:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
  • Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended.
  • Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university by the time you submit your application. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK but may be different depending on your course and university choice.
  • Have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience.
  • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by the deadline listed on the application timeline.

You are not eligible for a Chevening Scholarship if you:

  • Hold British or dual British citizenship (unless you are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) and are applying from Hong Kong).
  • Hold refugee status in a non-Chevening eligible country. Applicants who are citizens of a Chevening-eligible country and who hold refugee status in a Chevening-eligible country are eligible for a scholarship.

Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships

  • Have not received a CWIT grant within the last five years

Amount: CWIT grant includes: accommodation and living costs in the UK and a contribution of £700 towards the international travel costs.

CWIT grant does not include: travel costs within India; UK visa costs; or the costs of obtaining a valid IELTS certificate. Successful candidates will also need to arrange the appropriate level of insurance cover for travel and medical emergencies.

 

Application Process: Each year, applicants are shortlisted on the basis of their applications and invited to the British Council for an interview in New Delhi in February. The panels of Indian experts are chaired by CWIT. Results of the interviews are announced in early April. Your application form should include a Statement of Purpose, stating clearly which course you plan to follow, what you want to do in the UK and how you plan to put this into use on returning to India.

The University of Sheffield

Academic Excellence International Masters Scholarship

  • These scholarships are restricted to students who are overseas fee payers and are entirely selffunded*.

  • Graduates of the University of Essex are not eligible for this award.

  • A student may be eligible for an Aston International Scholarship if:

  • They are holding an offer for a full-time Postgraduate Taught programme at Aston University which will start in the Spring Term commencing January 2024;
  • They are entering into the first year of study on a degree programme taught by Aston University;
  • They meet all of the conditions set out in their offer letter;

  • A student who has all or part of their fees paid by a sponsor will not be eligible for an Aston Scholarship unless that sponsor has an official agreement confirming eligibility with Aston University.
  • Sponsors include, but are not limited to, His Majesty’s UK Government, overseas governments or another national body, the British Council or any international organisation, any international company, or any other university.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a citizen of India
  • Must be ordinarily resident in India
  • Must be not more than 30 years of age on 1 September of the year of application for the award
  • Must be a graduate of an Indian university if applying to a second undergraduate or for a post graduate course (applicants who are expected to graduate in the year of the award are also eligible to apply for the awards), or be from a school in India if applying for an undergraduate course.
  • Must have applied for and secured admission to study a full-time course at the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford. Candidates are required to present proof of admission before grant of the scholarship, and proof of having taken up residence at Cambridge or Oxford before the scholarships funds are released.
  • Must intend to pursue a course of study that is one of the following:
  • Research leading to the PhD degree
  • One-year post-graduate courses (e.g. MPhil, LLM,Diploma, CASM or Part III Maths, MBA, PGCE etc.)
  • Taught and research based Masters programmes of various durations (including M. Sc., engineering, medicine)
  • Second Bachelors degree as an Affiliated Student/Senior Status
  • Bachelors degree programme
  • Must be admitted to the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford through the University’s normal academic procedures. OCSI cannot admit students or assist in this process.

 

Amount:

  • OCSI K.K. Luthra Memorial Scholarship, tenable at either the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford worth INR 2,50,000 (Rupees Two Lacs Fifty Thousand).
  • OCSI Anita Banerji Memorial Scholarship, tenable at either the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford worth INR 2,00,000 (Rupees Two Lacs).
  • OCSI Nirmal Luthra Memorial Scholarship, tenable at the University of Cambridge worth INR 4,00,000 (Rupees Four Lacs).
  • The Emmanuel College Cambridge (India) Scholarship worth INR 2,00,000 (Rupees Two Lacs), tenable at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, from Nikhil Sawhney and Sumant Dhamija.
  • One scholarship worth INR 1,00,000 (Rupees One Lac) tenable only at St. Hilda’s College, Oxford, from Ritika Dhamija.

 

Application Process:

  • Application forms for OCSI scholarships will be available on the website of the Society by March every year.
  • All application forms must be submitted online by May 31, 2023.
  • Candidates who are shortlisted for the interviews shall be informed by Mid-June 2023. The decision of the OCSI Scholarship Committee on the short-listing and selection of candidates shall be final.
  • All short-listed candidates will be required to attend an interview with the OCSI scholarship committee tentatively Mid-July 2023. Details of the interview shall be intimated to shortlisted candidates in due course.
  • Award offers will normally be made to selected candidates by July 31, 2023.

Eligibility criteria:
To be eligible for the Imperial College – India Future Leaders Scholarship you must:

  • Be a domicile of India
  • Be available to commence your studies by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2024
  • Have submitted an application to study at College and have received an offer to study by 11 May 2024
  • Have been made an offer to study a one-year full time MSc or MRes in the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Medicine or Imperial College Business School.
  • Ineligible programmes include MBA, on-line/distance learning courses, and dual courses with another institution
    In addition to the above eligibility, applicants who are awarded this scholarship will be required to have met College English entry requirements (Pre-sessional English courses are not supported by this programme) by 30 June 2024. If you have not met the English entry requirements yet, please make the necessary arrangements as soon as possible to ensure you meet this requirement by 30 June 2024.

 

Amount: £10,000 towards tuition fees

 

Application Process:

  • There is no separate application form. Each faculty will nominate their top-ranked eligible candidates who have received an offer to study by 11 May 2024.
  • There are 3 awards for each of the faculties of Engineering, Natural Sciences and Medicine, and 1 award for the Imperial College Business School. Successful candidates will be notified by 30 June 2024.

  • female;
  • have a disability as defined at section 6 Equality Act 2010

 

Amount: The value of the Scholarship will be £39,400, to be used to fund the scholar’s tuition fees. Any surplus shall be used to fund the scholar’s maintenance costs and/or ancillary costs of the course of study

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit a video assessment. In the three-minute video response, you will be asked to describe the time when you had the most impact as a leader.
  • Awards will be assessed from the initial deadline onwards, and you are therefore encouraged to submit your application as early as possible in order to maximise your chance of success.   • be permanently domiciled in India;

  • have a GPA in their bachelor’s degree that is equivalent to a UK first-class degree;
    AND have submitted a complete admission application (including references) for a full-time Master’s degree at UCL in 2024/25 by Thursday 29 February 2024. Please note: Distance-learning options are not eligible for this fund; students must be coming to the UK to attend UCL in person.

 

Amount: The value of the bursary is £5,000. The scholarship is tenable for one year only unless the full-time programme is 2yrs in length. In that case the scholarship will be paid 50% in each year
