This renowned quote by Albert Einstein strongly resembles the rationale of research. To unearth new technologies has always been my desire and it has motivated me to pursue a career in engineering. As I come across new innovations, my first predicament is to understand the technology behind it. For example, when I heard about Automatic Energy Meter Reading System launched by Larsen and Toubro, I could not resist myself from learning the minutiae of this new product. After reading several research papers and perusing the internet, I realized that this technology was implemented using an intelligent microprocessor which forms the nucleus of embedded systems. Comprehending the theoretical concept, my anxiety lured me to put this innovation into practice and I ended up developing a ‘Wireless Electricity Meter’ as my final year diploma project.
